Since its establishment in 1867, Bembridge RNLI Station has stood as a stalwart guardian of the waters surrounding the Isle of Wight. Operating round the clock, 365 days a year, the station boasts two lifeboats and a team of over 40 dedicated volunteers. This year, as the RNLI celebrates its remarkable 200-year legacy, Bembridge RNLI proudly carries the torch of lifesaving tradition into the Round the Island Race 2024, having been named the Official Charity for this historic event.

Saving lives at sea requires a trifecta of essentials - robust lifeboats, strategically positioned lifeboat stations, and unwavering community support. Bembridge RNLI is equipped with two cutting-edge lifeboats that can battle the elements to reach those in distress. The station itself serves as a vital launching point for these lifesaving missions, ensuring a swift response to emergencies. However, none of this would be possible without the support of generous individuals like you, whose contributions make every lifeboat launch and every life saved a reality.

This year is a special milestone for the RNLI, marking its 200th anniversary. For two centuries, the organization has been at the forefront of maritime safety, saving countless lives and ensuring the well-being of those at sea. Bembridge RNLI, with its rich history, is a testament to the enduring legacy of the RNLI and its commitment to the safety of mariners.

Round the Island Race 2024 Partnership:

In a momentous collaboration, the RNLI has been named the Official Charity for the Round the Island Race 2024, a renowned sailing event that traces its roots back to 1931. Dave Atkinson, Race Director, emphasizes the close collaboration between the race team, RNLI, and Coastguard, highlighting the integral role RNLI stations play in ensuring the safety of competitors during the race.

Generosity in Action:

The Round the Island Race 2024 is not just a thrilling sailing event; it is an opportunity to channel the spirit of generosity towards a crucial cause. All donations raised during the race will directly benefit the seven RNLI stations involved, with a specific focus on supporting the training of their dedicated volunteer crews. This contribution ensures that these brave individuals are equipped with the skills and resources necessary to navigate challenging situations and save lives effectively.
