In the heart of Newport, the Isle of Wight's thriving capital, there's a haven that transcends the ordinary - Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe. But this isn't just any cafe; it's a labor of love brought to life by the dynamic duo, Karen and Chris. As the only board game cafe on the island, they've not only created a space to enjoy games but have also weathered the storms of lockdowns, emerging stronger than ever.

The story began in 2019 when Karen and Chris, along with a friend, decided to embark on an ambitious venture and open the island's first board game cafe. Little did they know that their journey would include navigating the challenges of a global pandemic. Lockdowns posed a significant threat, but this duo's determination and creativity prevailed. They adapted by hosting pop-up cake shops, featuring delectable treats from The Ruby Rose Bakery, a venture they run in tandem with the cafe.

Snacks and Ladders was born from a vision to create an oasis where patrons could escape the hustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in the joy of board games. The cafe boasts an impressive library of over 850+ games, ensuring there's something for everyone. Knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to guide and enhance the gaming experience, making every visit a memorable one.

Beyond the extensive game library, Snacks and Ladders offers a full-fledged restaurant menu, a comprehensive coffee selection, and even a tempting array of cocktails. It's a place where culinary delights and strategic moves on the game board coexist harmoniously, providing a unique and multifaceted experience for patrons.

The dedication and passion poured into Snacks and Ladders haven't gone unnoticed. The cafe recently secured a spot among the final three businesses in the Best Customer Services category for the Isle of Wight Radio Best in Business Awards 2024. This nomination adds to an impressive collection of accolades that Karen and Chris have earned since opening their doors, further solidifying their status as trailblazers in the local business scene.

Snacks and Ladders isn't just a business; it's a hub for community engagement. The cafe has become a gathering place for board game enthusiasts, food connoisseurs, and those seeking a break from the ordinary. Karen and Chris have successfully woven a tapestry of fun, flavor, and fellowship that extends far beyond the confines of their establishment.
